AUTUMN 2006

A hot start to the summer saw parched brown lawns and it seems we are having a warm autumn. The summer play scheme, at the beginning of summer holidays, was an enormous success thanks to the hard work of the organisers and helpers. The postponed treasure hunt from a rained out May schedule, was a warm Sunday afternoon, a leisurely walk through Bramcote park which has just been awarded Green Flag status. Only 3 families took part though which whilst disappointing did mean they all won prizes and came away knowing some more about the park and its history. In May the infants of Bramcote Hills Primary school did a junior version of the treasure hunt and by all accounts had a fun afternoon. The Picnic in the park was cancelled due to wet ground.

The hot summer did bring dry areas and a small minority of stupid youths set light to open spaces on Bramcote ridge, the Bridle path on /Bramcote moor and in Bramcote Park. There are still groups of youths causing misery to residents trying to ruin fences and smash windows, it is vital that if you see crime being committed you pass the information onto the police. The Police are the authority that can put the pieces of the jigsaw together. It is only a matter of time before these miscreants pay the penalty for their antisocial behaviour.

By the time this newsletter is distrbuted the plant swap event will have taken place and I hope residents who attended enjoyed the opportunity to sawp plants and maybe some gardening knowledge.

Our annual dinner is once again being held and I hope you can attend.
