SUMMER 2006

A late spring but it’s here at last and the Treasure hunt has been rescheduled due to bad weather. However the mini treasure hunt in the Park for Bramcote Hills Primary school went ahead in glorious sun and participants enjoyed themselves. There are lots of summer activities in the area. The ever so popular children’s play scheme is again being supported by helpers from the school again. The Helmlock happening is always a great and varied event.  The summer pub ramble is on again and is a great day out. The History and conservation society spearheading a restoration of the sunken tower in Bramcote and have secured half the funding this is a fantastic opportunity to develop further the nature walks and activities. The picnic in the park will be held again and is a great opportunity for families new to the area to meet the community. This event was started by Lindsey Mclellan who is moving to Australia and we thank her for the hard work and wish her all the best on her new adventure.

The community association has been consulted on the latest developments on the school travel plans and welcomes the positive results not just for pupils but also for the benefits it brings to residents. You may have noticed the Biffa site slowly being absorbed into extra football pitches for the school and wood land for the park.

Broxtowe Council are having a blitz on the graffiti and offer the CA a cleaning kit, which we are accepting. This will be available to members for removing small amounts of graffiti. If you see vandalism report it we do not have to tolerate a small minority of anti social behaviour. Lastly thank you to those litter pickers for their continued and daily efforts to keep our community clean.
