WINTER 2007

You receive this news letter because of the many people who give their time to delivering, contributing and editing it. It's always good to hear that a lot of people read the news letter and take part in the activities. I would like to thank all for this participation, and as winter appears to be taking hold spare a thought for the deliverers of this edition.

We had a wonderful meal at Archie’s in Stapleford for the Annual Dinner in November and thank you to those who attended.  The pantomime trip to Nottingham Playhouse to see Cinderella at the beginning of January was thoroughly enjoyable John Spencer has already started organising next years.

The recent news of the 3 local senior schools forming a federation, to rise to the challenge of a falling student population, raised questions and concerns to which I expressed on behalf of the community.

Our local policing are once again under pressure of reduced resources and again I have written in support of the local police to the senior officers responsible for these matters.

In Bramcote hills we are very lucky to have open spaces, woodlands, bridle paths and playing fields. Many people are keen gardeners and without exception we experience our environment nearly every day. But how well do we know it? What do you know of the Natural History of the area, wild life, geography and climate? What do you know of many activities and groups working in these areas from conservation of the environment to energy? At this years AGM in March we aim to have a panel of speakers to talk on these areas with a question and answer session. This years venue will be at the local primary school on moor lane. The AGM is your opportunity to hear about the affiliated groups and activities of the association. A way to influence the association is to join the committee, it’s good to take part. Hope to see you there.
